Welcome

Welcome to Middlezoy Primary and

Othery Village Schools

Working in partnership, putting children first

Middlezoy and Othery Schools are two small, friendly and inclusive village schools, at the heart of the picturesque communities of Middlezoy and Othery on the Somerset Levels. We offer opportunities for every child to develop their talents and abilities and to reach their potential, in a nurturing and caring environment. Our staff are committed to the development of learning and supporting skills through every aspect of our children’s lives.  In our small schools every child shines for their uniqueness as well as their strength in working together.

Our work in the classrooms is very interactive and makes excellent use of the wonderful resources around us.  Our parents, who have a key part to play in the school, support us in giving our children a varied and exciting learning experience.

We have a very supportive team of Governors who work closely with the schools helping us to go from strength to strength.  Our Parent Teacher Association is a hard working group who make sure we can provide our children with a wide variety of opportunities for learning.

We understand that the choice of school for your child is very important. Children have just one childhood; we believe their primary school experience should be magical and wondrous, filled with inspirational and unforgettable learning experiences. At Middlezoy and Othery, we know it is both our duty and privilege to help children delight in their precious childhood years, building a firm foundation for the rest of their lives.

Our schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

If you would like to find out more about our schools, you are very welcome to come and visit us. We are always happy to show visitors around the schools and give valuable insight into our ethos. Message from Executive Principal

Executive Principal's Welcome

At The Levels Academy Trust we are passionate about making a difference to the lives of all our children. They are at the heart of everything we do and we strive to inspire learners and change their lives, as a result of our vibrant and personalised educational provision. We want all our schools to be the best they can be and for each child to discover the skills, abilities, talents and interests that lie within them.

We are privileged to have Huish Episcopi Primary School, Hambridge Primary School and Middlezoy and Othery Primary Schools presently within The Levels Academy Trust. We are building a family of schools who are prepared to truly collaborate. The schools have a desire to question, change and innovate to ensure that what they provide enables our children to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.

We believe in the power of partnership, enabling us to ensure more children receive an exceptional education. Our member schools know the transformational impact it can have from experience. We all share the ultimate goal of driving high educational standards through the provision of outstanding teaching, leadership and learning for all.

At the same time, we recognise the importance for schools to retain and promote their individual identity and we endorse earned autonomy across the Trust. Every school has its own context and challenges. This is why we encourage our member schools to lead and manage in a way that preserves their individual identity and responds to the specific needs of their children and community.

Our leaders focus on offering the children a broad and balanced curriculum, on pupil progress and attainment and regularly share knowledge, insight and experience. We ensure that there is plenty of opportunity for all the staff to work in partnership, share best practice, share resources and attend shared INSET and Continuing Professional Development.

The combination of autonomy and collaboration across key areas of leadership and management, underpinned by shared vision, values and best practice is what makes The Levels Academy Trust unique.
