Middlezoy & Othery Parent and Teacher Association (PTA)

Who are we?

The Middlezoy & Othery Parent and Teacher Association is a parent and teacher lead association.  All parents and carers with children attending either school are automatically members of the PTA along with teaching staff and members of the Governing Body.

What are our aims?

Our aim is to support both schools and their children.  This is mostly achieved through organising fund-raising events.  We also support school events and activities.

Some examples of the fund raising events we have organised include Christmas Craft Fayres, Easter Raffle, School BBQ, Pub Quizzes, School Discos, Bag2School Collection, Annual Lottery, Bedtime Stories.

We have recently provided the school with –

  • a new sports kit for the children and coats for members of staff

  • PE equipment

  • enrichment activities provided by external organisations

  • new reading books for upper key stage 2

  • updating computer equipment

  • maths games and equipment for key stage 1
  • coaches for school trips

We also often provide refreshments for school events.

How often do we meet?

We usually meet twice every half term depending on what events we are organising.  The meetings are currently held at either school or at The London Inn in Othery on a Monday evening.  The meetings are open to all parents, carers and staff.  Some members are unable to attend meeting but still help organise and run events.

How do I become a member?

The PTA is open to anyone who wishes to join us.  You can register your interest with either school office by leaving your email address or phone number and we will get back to you. You can simply come along to our next meeting details of which are mentioned in the weekly newsletter.  Or speak to a committee member in the school playground.  If you are unable to attend meetings but can help with organising an event, help on the day, help with publicity or provide things like cakes please get in contact.

Please come along and get involved as joining in and helping out provides great financial help to both schools and is a really good way of getting to know other parents and staff.
