This is an informal session running from 7:30 to 8.30 a.m. at Othery School where the children enjoy a healthy breakfast which will consist of a bowl of cereal with semi-skimmed milk, which may be sweetened by adding a small portion of dried or canned fruit in natural juice; and up to 2 slices of wholemeal toast with spread, jam, marmalade or thinly spread honey. There will also be a small glass of semi-skimmed milk or fruit juice and unlimited water to drink
Cereals on offer will include a selection of whole-wheat cereals, cornflakes, rice-based cereals, shredded wholegrain wheat cereals, malted wheat cereals and bran flakes. We have been advised that we should not serve any cereal that is coated or flavoured with sugar, chocolate or cocoa powder.
At 8:30 the children will move into the Book Club to enable the staff to clear up. Any children who attend Middlezoy will then be transported by minibus. The remaining children will stay in Book Club until 8:50am when they will go out onto the playground.
There is a £3.50 charge for each session and we ask parents to tell us at the beginning of the term which days their children are likely to attend. The club can also be used for odd occasions by parents when something unexpected crops up.
